Ragini Bhasin is a filmmaker of South Asian heritage, born and raised in India, currently residing in Los Angeles. A graduate of Dodge College of Film and Media arts, Chapman University, she has made award-winning films like 'Ghazaal' and 'Las Escondidas', which have played numerous festivals worldwide, including, Oscar-qualifying, Nashville, Los Angeles Asian Pacific, Florida, Flicker's Rhode Island International, Tirana International Film Festival and Femme Filmmakers in the same line-up as Olivia Wilde and Lulu Wang. Her work was also featured in the Wrap's Shortfilmfestival and was distributed by the German ARTE channel in France, Germany, and Belgium, by ShortsTV, Argo Channel, and Disney+ Hotstar. She is also the recipient of the Meredith Macrae Memorial Award funded by Women In Film, the Maya Deren Short Film Innovation Prize by Femme Filmmakers, the recipient of the BAFTA LA Newcomers Program 2021, and an Alliance For Women In Media Mentee 2021.
She has directed films in English, Hindi, Dari, Spanish, and Mandarin and loves working with non-actors who bring unparalleled freshness and condor on screen. Her work de-stigmatizes topics that are deemed controversial and explores the psyche of underrepresented communities, from Muslim Hijabi women to transgender athletes.
She directs unscripted digital web series that garners millions of views for Jubilee Media’s Youtube channel including series like Middle Ground, Spectrum, Odd One Out (Nominated for the Streamy Awards in 2021), Ranking amongst others. These series have been sponsored by brands like Netflix, Google, Warby Parker, Always, Grammarly, Honey, amongst others.
